The Positive Effects of Covid-19

Covid-19 has changed the whole world in different sectors and has taught us how simple things such as face-to-face contact or even a room full of people could make us feel better. So why not after almost a year of negativity to see the positive side of this phase.

Before Covid-19, health and hygiene were not a concern. In times of pandemic, interaction in buildings is reduced, from elevators to elevator buttons, door handles, surfaces, and above all, neighbors and acquaintances.

The primary role of the house has always been protection. It acted initially as a hiding place for bad weather and predatory animals. Today, people need a house that can effectively provide social isolation. More than an escape from routine and urban chaos, the house now offers a retreat from viruses and infections. Urbanization takes a step back as we relocate to small villages and city suburbs.

“Life will never be the same after the Covid-19 outbreak. We are at the beginning of the end, waiting for a new beginning. Values will change, our lives and habits will change, and our homes will change under that influence”.

Many are required to operate from home during the quarantine. There will be people who will race to meet colleagues and drink office coffee on the first day after the quarantine. However, there will be those who do not want to come back to the workplace. There will be more focus to the arrangement of the workplace from home, for example, a lot of radio stations have tried to let their employees work from home by applying all the equipment needed of a studio inside their houses.

Why don’t we see the bright side of it and learn how to seize the moment?

The latest trend now is to start small gardens on balconies. As our grandparents taught us, gardening is relaxing. Physical contact with living plants has shown to be beneficial for our mental health. It is fun to develop what you eat which gives you some freedom from your daily routine, particularly during self-isolation. Quarantine is maybe the best time to learn more about indoor gardens, and how to grow plants from seeds even if you live in a multi-story house.

Finally, if all else fails and you feel that your home is not working anymore, you need a change of scene to boost your productivity levels; you can always switch to a flexible membership in a co-working space like FoundersBei!
